The German cockroach is the most common and most difficult species in Montreal's housing stock. A female produces up to forty offspring per egg capsule and the full cycle takes around a hundred days: a population goes from a few individuals to several hundred in one summer. Our protocol relies on gel baiting, monitoring with sticky traps, and follow-up timed to ootheca hatching, which no product reaches. That last biological constraint is why a single treatment never settles an established infestation.

Read →Yes. Roaches are nocturnal and stay hidden as long as harbourage suffices. A daytime sighting generally means hiding places are saturated, so the population is already substantial. It is grounds for a prompt inspection rather than waiting.
No. In a building, an infestation most often arrives via a neighbouring unit, a package, a used appliance, or a move. Cleanliness influences how fast the population grows, not whether it appears. A spotless unit in an affected building will still be reached.
Two to three visits over six to ten weeks for an established infestation: initial treatment, a check at three weeks for the first hatching wave, and a final verification. An infestation caught early can be settled with one treatment and one follow-up.
For the German cockroach, the affected unit and every adjacent unit — above, below, and on either side — must be treated at minimum. We say so plainly at inspection if an isolated treatment stands no chance, and we can contact the landlord to coordinate.
